Finney Town Chili

Don't let the 'secret' ingredient in this chili scare you away.  While chocolate is not the first thing I would think of adding to chili it adds a great depth of flavor without actually tasting like chocolate.

1 lb ground beef *
1 can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 cannellini beans (white kidney beans), drained and rinsed
1 can corn, undrained
1 can petite diced tomatoes, undrained
½ cup chopped green bell pepper
½ cup chopped onion (1 medium)
1 packet mild chili seasoning (or more to taste)
1/3 cup bittersweet or unsweetened chocolate chips
1 8oz can tomato sauce
1 16 oz packet spaghetti

Directions
1.     In large skillet over medium heat brown ground beef.  Drain; transfer to slow cooker.
2.     Stir in red and white kidney beans, corn, diced tomatoes, green bell pepper, onion, chili seasoning, chocolate chips and tomato sauce.
3.     Cover; cook on low for 6 hours
4.     (20 minutes before serving) cook spaghetti, drain.  To serve top plain cooked spaghetti with chili.  Top with sour cream, cheese, or chopped onion.

*Note:  Vegetarian option--This can be made using morning star ground “beef”.  Follow directions as written, just replace beef with morning star product.
